Yolanda Hadid Foster (born January 11, 1964) is a Dutch-American television personality, model, and interior designer. She is best known as a star of the American reality-television show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
She was born Yolanda van den Herik on January 11, 1964, and grew up in Papendrecht, Netherlands, with her parents and brother, Leo. When she was seven years old, her father died in a car accident, leaving her mother to raise their two children by herself.
When Foster was 16, she did a hair show for her friend in Amsterdam. She was asked by Dutch designer Frans Molenaar to replace one of his models and go on the runway. That was when Foster was discovered by Eileen Ford, owner of Ford Models. After she signed with Ford, she modeled in Paris, Milan, Sydney, Cape Town, Tokyo, New York, Los Angeles and Hamburg. Foster modeled for fifteen years before wanting to settle down and start a family. In 1994, Foster moved to Los Angeles to start her family after meeting and marrying Mohamed Hadid. After their divorce in 2000, Foster moved to Montecito with her children and ran her interior design business from home.
Foster’s first marriage was to Mohamed Hadid, a real estate developer. The couple have three children together, Jelena “Gigi” (b. April 23, 1995) Bella (b. October 9, 1996), and Anwar (b. June 22, 1999).
Foster married musician, composer and producer David Foster in Beverly Hills, California on November 11, 2011, after becoming engaged on Christmas Eve, 2010.
In 2012, Foster was diagnosed with Lyme disease. In December 2012, she reported that she was having a port implanted in her arm to help treat her chronic Lyme disease. On April 19, 2013, she had the port removed. In January 2015, she revealed that, as a consequence of the illness, she had “lost the ability to read, write, or even watch TV”. On December 1, 2015, Foster announced she and David Foster planned to divorce.
